Brow Lift or Blepharoplasty?

Your eyebrows have a significant impact on your overall appearance. No matter how you shape or fill them, these facial features can be a source of concern if they are not positioned as they should be. When we view the youthful looking face, we expect to see the brow sitting along the orbital bone above the eye. If the brow lies too low, the upper eyelids can become exceedingly heavy and droopy. The eyes may look angry or tired, which is likely to affect how your face and even your personality is perceived.

The Brow Lift

A brow lift is sometimes referred to as an upper face lift. This cosmetic surgical procedure may be performed in a number of different ways. My preferred technique is the minimally invasive endoscopic brow lift. Incisions are be made just behind the hairline. Through this incision, the skin from the brow to top of the forehead is gently lifted. This precision technique results in naturally open eyes and reduced forehead wrinkling.

Eyelid surgery has become a sought-after procedure by men and women alarmed at the way age has affected the appearance of their eyes. When we smile, it is our eyes that light up. When the skin on the upper eyelid has become saggy and loose, the effects of our positive emotions are diminished in our expressions. Like a droopy brow, heavy eyelids give the perception of sadness and fatigue. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty resolves the issue of sagging skin by removing it through incisions hidden inside the upper eyelid crease.

What is Best for Your Eyes?

Some people need a brow lift, while many others can achieve their desired rejuvenation with eyelid surgery alone. In some cases, the best results will come from the two procedures performed at the same time. If you push up on your forehead with your fingers to lift your brow and your eyelids still appear heavy, this is an indication that eyelid surgery may be more appropriate. At a consultation, the role of the eyebrow position on the eyelid condition will be assessed and the alternative techniques for correction will be discussed and demonstrated.
